Periodontal Gum Care

Periodontal (Gum) Care

According to the American Academy of Periodontology, gum disease is the number one cause of tooth loss in adults over the age of 35. If your gums feel tender, look red and swollen, or bleed every time you floss, you could be at risk for gum disease. Untreated gum disease has been linked to other serious health problems, so it’s important to keep your gums healthy with proper home care and biannual professional dental cleanings.

Gum disease used to require surgery more often than not. While surgery is still sometimes the best option, we can now treat many cases with less invasive techniques, including local antibiotics, deep cleanings, and medicated rinses.

Periodontal Treatments

  • Diagnosis of Gum Disease
  • Scaling and Root Planing (Deep Cleaning)
  • Long-Term Maintenance Plans

Botox Cosmetic®

Botox CosmeticBOTOX® Cosmetic is a non-surgical method of treating facial wrinkles in the forehead, between the eyes, and in the “crow’s feet” areas (upper third of the face). Botulinum toxin, or BOTOX® Cosmetic, works by weakening the muscles of facial expression. Once the resting tone of the treated muscles is weakened, the pull of the muscles relaxes and the overlying skin smooths out. Results last approximately 3-6 months.

Dermal Fillers

Think wrinkles are your biggest problem? Think again! As we age, loss of subcutaneous fat can highlight fine lines and creases, lead to sagging features, and create a sunken or hollow look in the face. Luckily, dermal fillers are an effective way to fight back.

JuvedermThis hyaluronic acid filler is the first and only filler FDA-approved to smooth moderate to severe wrinkles around the mouth and nose. Hyaluronic acid naturally occurs in your body to provide elasticity and moisture to your skin, helping to keep it firm and youthful. As we get older, hyaluronic acid production decreases, which leads to loss of volume and drooping of facial skin.

Juvéderm effectively replenishes hyaluronic acid to improve the appearance of vertical lip lines, “marionette” lines between the mouth and chin, and “parentheses” from the bottom of the nose to the side of the mouth.

Your treatment should take less than 15 minutes. You should experience little-to-no discomfort and can resume your normal activities as soon as you’re finished, as long as you avoid direct sunlight and contact with the injection sites for the first 24 hours. Results should gradually appear over the course of three to four days and can last for up to a year.
